I am a 28 year old mum, currently looking for the balance between work, life and sleep!
Summarise your writing career
My writing has always been a bit of escapism for me, but most recently I used it to process/document my first year of motherhood. In December 2020 I self-published my first book ‘The Evolution of Mum’ which was a great achievement.
Why did you take up writing?
It was my strength through school and something I have always enjoyed.
What inspires your story ideas?
Real life events, I enjoy writing about my own experiences and also things that are happening in the world.
What do you enjoy most about being an author/ writing?
I like that it can make you feel more relaxed about whatever you’re writing about. Sometimes life can be very stressful and I find it a good tool for coping with these stresses.
What do you find most challenging about being an author/ writing?
After I released my book I was asked a lot about what was next, when was the next book etc. I found this quite challenging as I suddenly felt pressured to cram a lot of work in.
What are you most proud of in your writing career so far?
Releasing my book, I can’t wait to show it to my son one day.
Are you an indie author or traditionally published? How have you found the experience?
I’m an indie author, it’s great but also challenging to try and cover all bases yourself.
What advice would you give to aspiring writers?
Just do it! I’m sure you will feel very proud of what you manage to produce.
If you could meet any author living or passed, who would it be and why?
Dr Seuss! He was my absolute favourite growing up and I now read his books to my son at bedtime. My favourite book of all time is ‘Oh The Places You’ll Go’. I think everyone should read it!
